Harlan H. Schaffer of Walnutport, formerly of Slatedale, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, in Phoebe Richland in Richland Township, PA. He was the loving companion of the late Ellen Paules of Bowmanstown.

Born on Feb. 1, 1937 in Slatedale, he was a son of the late Clarence and Ida (Weiss) Schaffer.

He was a graduate of Slatington High School.

Harlan worked as a maintenance supervisor at the Whitehall/Lafarge Cement Company.

He served as an active-duty member of the U.S. Army Reserve. He was honorably discharged from service in March, 1963.

Harlan loved spending time with his loved ones and enjoyed playing the slot machines at the casino.

Surviving are three daughters, Amy Miccicke of Quakertown, Donna, wife of Gary Haydt of Trachsville, and Terri, wife of Bill Lever of Slatington; a sister Joan, wife of Earl Zellner of Slatington; eight grandchildren, Adam, Bryn, Melissa, Lyle, Chelsea, Calysta, Rowen and Bo; and a great-granddaughter Ivy.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Kravetz; and a granddaughter, Roxanne Lever.

Service: Funeral service Saturday, May 4, Kevin E. Hunsicker Funeral Home, 4214 Main St., Slatedale, with Pastor Alvin James officiating.
