Obituary For Franklin Kushner
Franklin “Tubby” Kushner, 86, of Coplay passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 7th. He was born in Allentown and graduated from William Allen High School. He was a member of the armed forces (U.S. Army). He co-owned C & K Radiator shop before transitioning to his favorite vocation which was truck driving for The Mason and Dixon Lines. He retired from the Lehigh Valley International Airport where he worked as a mechanic. Although he was not an official member of a specific church, his actions were a constant example of Jesus’ commandment to love your neighbor as yourself, and that started with his own family. You could not find a more devoted husband, father, father-in-law or grandfather. He loved traveling all across the country by RV and drove to Alaska on 4 separate occasions, most recently when he was 81 years old. He was a jack of all trades which meant he was constantly busy at home and helping other people by putting his vast skills to use. He was the epitome of Shel Silverstein’s “Giving Tree,” and his last act on this earth was one of loving service; he was bending down to aid his wife with an ankle brace. His entire life was devoted to service for others, never once thinking of himself in all of his 86 years. We are comforted by the fact that he did not suffer. He was the best man we knew and will be missed more than he could ever know. He was a son of the late Frances (Oswald) Kushner and Frank Kushner. He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. (Brosky) Kushner, his daughter Nikki (wife of Mike Burrell), his grandson Graham (Lauren Pash), a sister, Barbara (“Corky”) Kushner and a brother, Robert Kushner. A celebration of Tubby’s life will be held a future date.
